EXPERIENCE WITH MICROPROPAGATED PLANTS OF SUGARCANE IN THE HERBERT
By GJ SHANNON; R PACE; LP DI BELLA
MICRO-PROPAGATION of sugarcane can be used for rapid propagation of smut
resistant varieties for the Australian sugar industry. In the Herbert, a pilot system
involving raising smut resistant KQ228A from plantlets to field trials for release
as a clean seed plant source in 2008 has been very successful. This paper
outlines the steps taken to achieve this.
