WHAT WOULD A new factory built in Australia today look like? Assuming this new factory has decided to use all of the currently available technology, how many operators would be required to operate the factory? This paper looks at the specific tasks undertaken by operators and determines if, with current technology, these processes can be automated to a level where a minimum number of operators is required to operate the factory. The cost of the programming of this automation has not been considered in this paper.
