Generating interest in soil health with the development of an extension toolkit

By

Soil health can be defined as the continued capacity of soil to function as an integral living ecosystem that preserves biological diversity, supports plant growth and sustains or improves air and water quality. It can be assessed by measuring a combination of soil physical, chemical and biological properties. The Soil Health Project of the Herbert and Burdekin Regions is designing extension tools to evoke discussions between growers and advisors, promote curiosity, and generate greater interest in sugarcane soil health.
