Management strategies for Bundaberg canegrowers for the 1990s
By Churchward, EH; Poulsen, NJ
While costs of production for cane growers in the Bundaberg district have risen significantly during the past ten years, returns from cane farming have not kept pace. This situation will probably be repeated in the 1990s, and survival in this challenging environment will be dependent on the use of the best management skills and business acumen. This paper examines some of the factors which have eroded profitability and those strategies which might be implemented to optimise farm economics during the next decade.
