The welcome function was held on Tuesday evening before the official conference opening, (Tuesday 2nd May) at the Poolside area, Pullman Cairns International Hotel (PCI), Cairns. The Offical Opening of the Conference was at 9am on Wednesday 3rd May by Cr Bob Manning OAM, Mayor of Cairns.
Keynote Speakers of the Conference were Alistair Mowat, director of Thought Strategy Limited, a company based in Tauranga, New Zealand and Peter Allsopp, an entomologist by training, has had a long and distinguished career in the Australian sugarcane industry.
Manufacturing and Agricultural sessions followed at this location.
The Conference Gala Dinner was held on Thursday evening at the PCI.
The Closing Ceremony has held on Friday 5th May, where the ASSCT President, Rob Magarey, announced the awardees for the best research paper and the best industry paper and poster papers. The Executive of the ASSCT announced the winners of the bursaries for 2017.
